Web

Our team designs and develops Web sites and other electronic communications that promote university programs and services. These sites include the campus home pages, the News & Information site, and other electronic projects geared toward important internal and external audiences.

Services

Campus home page and other top-level sites

  • Assist the campus in providing logical and highly visible paths from the home page to strategic campus sites and information
  • Keep Web users up-to-date on latest campus news and events using video, slideshows and audio clips
  • Offer home page spotlights that showcase UC Davis strengths
  • Create and maintain special UC Davis Web sites during major events and emergencies

Graphic standards

  • Develop standards and templates for campus Web sites
  • Provide graphics, logos and color palette to campus

  • Duties: Webmaster for campus home pages; chairs Web administrative committee; manages the Web unit, supervising Web programmer and analyst positions
  • Other UC Davis posts: Principal artist for Mediaworks, 1987-93
  • Background: Partner, i five design, Woodland, 1993-97; owner, CFH Illustration Design, 1997-98; won a 2005 silver medal from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education District VII for leadership in redesigning the UC Davis home page
  • Education: B.A. in studio art, University of California, Davis

  • Duties: Social sciences, arts and humanities writer and News Service new media/Web editor
  • Other UC Davis posts: Edited the faculty-staff newspaper Dateline for 11 years
  • Background: In 1990, helped instigate the annual UC Editors' Conference and has been key in keeping the 10-campus group operating; 15 years experience as a writer and editor at newspapers, including the Vacaville Reporter, Winters Express and Sacramento Union; won a 2005 silver medal from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education District VII for leadership in redesigning the UC Davis home page
  • Education: B.A. in International Relations and M.A. in Rhetoric and Communication, University of California, Davis

Jeremy Postlethwaite, Web Programmer, (530) 754-0303

  • Duties: Web application development, systems administration, management of open source installation
  • Background: Since 2001 owned and operated Web site development business with national clientele; open-source software developer since 2004; owned and operated old-fashioned candy making business in Tennessee 2005-06; worked at Sandia National Lab on the Z-Machine in 2002
  • Education: B.S. in Physics, California State University, Sacramento; three years of graduate work, UC Davis Department of Applied Science
